Weatherization

Indianhead Community Action Agency began its endeavor in the housing service area in 1975 by providing weatherization service to reduce the energy burden on low - income households.

Common weatherization services might include attic and sidewall insulation, furnace repair or replacement, insulating the water heater, air leakage reduction and health and safety inspections.

People utilizing the weatherization services have experienced average annual savings of 20-28% per home energy expenses.

The services are provided in Burnett, Clark, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, Taylor and Washburn counties.

In 1992, Indianhead Community Action Agency broadened its housing services to include a housing rehabilitation program utilizing federal HOME dollars.

The programs' purpose is to assist eligible low-income homeowners in making those home repairs that are needed to ensure the health, safety and well being of its occupants.

The program will repair/replace water heaters, roofs, electrical wiring, windows, doors, walls, floors, chimney, siding and other repairs necessary to bring the building into compliance with the Housing Quality Standard which is a requirement of the HOME Program.

The services are provided in Burnett, Clark, Rusk, Sawyer, Taylor, Washburn, and Price counties.
