Letter From the Director

Dear Friends,

The ongoing mission of Indianhead Community Action Agency is to secure all available resources, local, state, private and federal to enable low-income and disadvantaged persons of all ages in rural areas to attain the skills; knowledge and motivation that are needed to become self-sufficient.

Indianhead Community Action Agency focuses on developing partnerships with persons from different backgrounds and in various stages of life, may they be elderly individuals or families in the agency's service area to create opportunities for them to improve their lives.

Our clientele are individuals and families at low and moderate-income levels. The basic service area includes Burnett, Clark, Rusk, Sawyer, Taylor and Washburn counties in Northwestern Wisconsin.

Local boards oversee Community Action Program Agencies, such as Indianhead, whose membership represents three groups:

local government, economically disadvantaged and the business community.

Indianhead has been serving the economically disadvantaged in Northwest Wisconsin since 1966. It is a people oriented agency that provides services in many areas in need in rural Wisconsin.

Within these pages you will see that Indianhead is very diverse and offers the following programs:

  • Business Program
  • Head Start
  • Home Health/Home Services
  • Housing Development
  • Kinship for youth, seniors, and explorers
  • Outreach
  • Transportation
  • Weatherization
  • Wisconsin Fresh Start

Please look at specific programs for their service area.

Community Action is local people from all areas and walks of life working to fight the paradox of poverty in the land of plenty.
